Wi-care™ and its I-DNA technology avoid a Paper Recycling Industry a more than one million EUR machine breakdown.
Owner of several leading brands from paper transformation, our customer is one of the world leaders in hygiene. Its plant located in the west of France has about 500 collaborators and is the first French site for recycling paper and brick food, turning these materials into hygiene products.
The production site relies on I-care and its maintenance 4.0 solution Wi-care™ and I-see™ for the predictive maintenance of its critical equipment including the main paper press. No less than 63 Wi-care sensors 110 and 130 (mono-axial and tri-axial vibration and temperature wireless sensors) are thus placed at the strategic points of the process and displayed in the I-see™ Control Room, the web-based software of data analysis and processing developed by I-care.
On January 18th 2019, an increase of vibration levels measured by Wi-care 110 sensors launched an alert on I-see portal.
The observation shows the presence of a peak at 9.18 orders. It is the typical frequency for a defect of the outer race of the transmission side bearing. This frequency is visible on the velocity and acceleration spectra. Automatic measurements every 15 minutes are used to monitor the evolution of the bearing. As it is not a common wear part, the replacement bearing is ordered by the customer.
On February 3, 2019, visible impacts appears in the waveform.
These observations will be confirmed on February 20th with a manual measuring process thanks to a portable CSI 2140 collector and the MHM software.
On the beginning of March, following a last in-depth analysis and the results provided by I-DNA in I-see™, previous observations and also a significant deterioration of the outer ring of the bearing are confirmed.
I-care technician recommend a planned shutdown in short delays in order to proceed to the replacement of the damaged bearing. The shutdown is planned end of March and the 1,8T bearing is replaced, avoiding a major breakdown of the main clipboard.
The installation of Wi-care sensors equipped with I-DNA technology on critical elements of its production process but also the professional control of I-care technicians allowed our customer to avoid a major breakdown of its main clipboard, leading to a non-schedule and extremely expensive shutdown.
